Abraham Lincoln said, “People are just as happy as they make up their minds to be.”

You would be surprised at how much control you have over your happiness. It really does depend on your attitude, and from what I can deduce, there are two main things you can focus on to improve your attitude and happiness. Faith and gratitude.

Have faith that Heavenly Father really does have a plan for you. His work and glory is your future. He wants you to find that lasting happiness that He has, and He knows how to best deliver you unto that happiness. Trust in His plan. When things don’t work out the way that you want them to, trust that He knows what He is doing, and that you’ll find the best option for you sometime in the future.

Show gratitude for the blessings that you do have. I do not think that we realize how much we actually have until we sit down and really consider it all. Occasionally say a prayer of gratitude; that is, don’t ask for anything. Just stay on your knees as long as you can listing the things that you are thankful for. You will be surprised at how much you have. Another nice point of gratitude is when you’re focused on what you do have, you don’t have time to focus on what you don’t have.
