“The greatest single lesson we can learn in mortality is that when God speaks and a man obeys, that man will always be right.” – President Thomas S. Monson

The distance between the way the world looks at things and the way that Heavenly Father considers them is increasingly growing. More and more, people will disagree with you as you attempt to follow the teachings of the Gospel and the promptings that you receive as you strive to follow the Spirit in your life. People have varying opinions on everything of import and everything else. Truth only comes from one source, though, and that’s Heavenly Father. No matter what the subject is, if God is directing your choices in any way, you can trust that His is the best course or answer for you.

Sometimes, however, it seems that the direction we receive from Him leads us into more difficult situations than other options would have. Remember that He has your eternal welfare and happiness in mind, and His plan will bring that to pass. Sometimes that means that we need to be given things that we don’t even realize we need or want. Many times in this life the thing we want is not the thing that we need. Trust that even if His promptings lead you down paths that you struggle on, it is what you need. He knows you better than you do, and He is always right.
